Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS AN ELECTRIC BIKE? An e-bike or electric bikes are bikes fitted with an electric motor to assist you as you pedal, they draw power from the E-bikes battery, and usually have different levels of pedal assist. You can ride an electric bike in the following ways. 1.Pedaling without any motor assist (as a regular bicycle) 2.Pedaling with motor assist (five levels of assist) 3.Pure throttle (If fitted) The great thing about our ebikes is that they can be pedaled just like a normal bike. By turning off the bike or switching the pedal assist level to 0, a rider can pedal, shift gears, and ride the bike as a traditional bike.

WHAT IS MEANT BY PEDAL ASSIST? Pedal assist is a bike feature that puts the power of the motor right in your pedal stroke. Pedal assist can be activated by selecting a PAS level using the PAS selector buttons. The PAS selector buttons allow a rider to dial up a specific level of assistance from the motor between 1-5 on the LCD display. When a PAS level is selected, you will feel a boost of power from the motor in the rear wheel when you start pedaling. On PAS 0, our bike is totally like a normal bike. When on PAS 1 or more the electric motor will be activated.

DO I NEED A LICENSE FOR AN E-BIKE? No, you don’t need a license to ride an electric bike in Australia, e-bikes in Australia with a maximum power output of 250watts and a top speed of 25 km/h are classified as bicycles and not road vehicles, theses ebikes can be legally ridden in bike lanes as well.

CAN ELECTRIC BIKES GET WET? All our electric components are designed for water resistance, you can ride your ebike in light rain. After wet riding, wipe LCD display and battery to make them dry, otherwise overnight moisture may make its way into electric parts. It is not recommended to ride them through very heavy downpours, or through flooded streets or water when the crank and/or the motor can get splashed or even covered with water. You should store your electric bike either indoors or undercover to protect it and help prevent moisture and corrosion making way into its electrical components.

HOW FAR CAN I GO ON A E-BIKE ON A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY? Usually between 35 and 80klm a lot depends on your riding style, level of pedal assist used and if you have a throttle fitted, also the weight of the rider, what load is carried, hills, and headwinds/tailwinds all affect the distance travelled. Riding on lower levels of pedal assist will maximize your battery's range. Riding on higher levels of pedal assist and using the throttle will drain your battery much quicker.

CAN I USE THE THROTTLE ALL THE TIME? Yes if you want, that is what it is there for to use! However, using the throttle the entire time will drain the battery much quicker.

DOES THE BATTERY NEED TO BE CHARGED IF I'M NOT GOING TO RIDE FOR A LONG TIME? If you’re not going to ride your bike for a while, give it a good clean, lubricate chain etc and charge the battery to at least 50 -75% charge, then store it in a dry area where it's not subject to extreme temperature changes.
